I know I must sound like a broken record, but this is the perfect season to discover new berry recipes!
The months of June through August could easily be renamed “berry fest” because berries are perfectly ripe and perfect for any type of recipe you might have in mind.
Summer is the time of the year where you can let your imagination run wild. You can either focus on your favourite berry (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or blackberries) or you can mix and match any of the berries that you find at your grocery store or farmers’ market.
You won’t catch me eating berries in the middle of winter because they are not in season and even when they are imported from Argentina or Chile they are picked so early that by the time they make it to my local grocery store they are TASTELESS!
I always have a bag of wild blueberries in my freezer to add to my morning smoothies and that something that I have on hand year-round, but when it comes to eating fresh berries … I stick to summer berries! Here’s something else I should add, I prefer waiting for local berries because they are picked at the perfect time and they taste sooooooooooo much better than imported berries!
I’d say that what I love the most about berries is they make the perfect light summer desert.
I found several delicious summary berry recipes and I thought I’d share them with you. As you know, I’m not as perfect in the kitchen as Martha Stewart is and that’s why I don’t follow too many of her recipes, but I felt these berry recipes were relatively easy to make.
I’ll start by sharing some of my favourites and will then give you a link where you can grab the recipes for all the rest.
