Eat Smart Age Smart TV

I’ve been attending a yearly women’s show for the past two years now.
The National Women’s Show is national Canadian show (it’s held every year in October in Toronto), but I have a sneaky feeling this type of show is very common around North America.
These shows are great at offering you a chance to test some great products and most importantly discover new products you’d like to buy.
I usually go with my friend Krista and we make it a fun Friday night. Since we are both also involved in the beauty industry (I have another blog on beauty) and my friend Krista is a make-up buyer for a big department store, we usually ignore the whole beauty/make-up/skincare area of the show and head for the food section usually located at the back of the show.
Each year we’re able to discover new healthy food trends and also taste some products that we might not have thought of buying without tasting them first.
The other fun part of a show like this is that manufacturers are very happy to engage with the consumers and educate them on their products. There’s no better way to learn about new foods than to be able to talk to the people who have created them and understand how they can support your health and make your life easier.

Weight training is better than toning exercises for women!

***IMPORTANT: this is a video that is SO important to watch if you are a women***
Ladies, strength training/weight training is essential as you age.
I’ve been preaching this for a while now on my site and it’s quite a concern to me when women bypass weight training because they are afraid they’ll end up looking too masculine.
You have to lift a whole lot of weight and eat a whole lot of protein to be worried about looking masculine when you do weight training on a regular basis.
I can assure you that over a decade of regular weight training has left my body looking lean and firm and I DO NOT look masculine at all. As I like to say, things are still where they’re supposed to be and I intend on keeping it this way until I turn 150 years of age!

Video: Lessons from fitness training summit for personal trainers

I was lucky enough to attend a recent Twist Conditioning Sport Performance Summit and I’ve captured some of the best moments of personal trainers’ training sessions.
Peter Twist is the mastermind behind these summits. He’s the president and he’s also an athlete coach and I can tell you these were some intensive workouts designed to teach professional personal trainers some new techniques and exercises to help their clients better reach their weight loss and body goals.
I spent a bit of time filming all of these segments, but I also took the time to do one of those sessions and it took me no time whatsoever to start sweating.
I will also feature a segment reviewing a Twist Conditioning Adult Functional Fitness sessions and I will surely blog about the intensive one-hour-and-15-minute-long workout.
I know that the following videos won’t be for everyone because some have advance moves, but I do want to show that fitness is more than those exercise machines at the gym.
If you use exercise elastic bands, medicine balls or Bosu balls, you can really increase the intensity of your workout.
1) Bosu ball exercises part 1

Video tutorial: Eating healthy tips for grocery shopping
The previous post is full of great information, but some people like it straight to the point!
For those who don’t want to know about pH foods, but just want basic tips on the right food choices when doing your grocery shopping.
Sam Graci, creator of Greens+ and author of The Bone-Building Solution, is one of the most knowledgeable people I know when it comes to healthy eating.
The fact that I was able to spend one full hour with him at Whole Foods Market is surreal and it’s the kind of experience I want to share with all of my readers.

Video: Is your TV making you fat?

One of the easier ways to control your weight and make better food choices is to be fully aware of what you eat. If you are conscious of what foods you put into your shopping trolley and which foods you put into your mouth … that’s half the battle in your weight loss challenge.
I know a number of people who no longer have a dinner table, or use their dinner table as a computer desk because they eat all their meals in front of the television.
I really believe sitting on a sofa to watch your favourite show while eating dinner is a surefire way to sabotage your weight loss efforts because your focus is on the TV and not what (or much) you are putting into your mouth.
Don’t believe me?
Check out my video that gives you 5 reasons why your TV is making you fat!

Video review: How to choose healthy cereals (part 2)

A few weeks ago, I created a video about the importance of taking the time to read the ingredients in your cereal in order to choose a better quality product for your breakfast.
If you missed that first vide review, you can still catch it here:
Video review: How to choose healthy cereals (part 1)
There are billions of boxes of cereals sold every year, and so many of those are empty calories that will only make you fat and do very little to help you attain your ideal weight.
I’ve found a new batch of healthy cereals to help you make better food choices, and you can watch me talking about them below.

Video: How to resist food temptations!

I often get asked if I have any food temptations. Well, I would not be human if I didn’t, would I? People are usually very surprised when they find out which foods make my cheat list:
* deep fried calamari
* skinny French fries (I don’t like the wide ones)
* chicken wings
* sweet potato fries
* coconut shrimp (I can eat a hundred of them!)
* a long list of French and Italian desserts

Breakfast smoothies are a healthy breakfast option!

I received a question from one of my readers and since I was going back and forth via email, I decided to answer her question via video so that I can provide more readers a chance to take advantage of Doreen’s great question!
Doreen’s brother has just switched to the vegan diet and as a result he’s lost a whopping 70 lbs!
Wow! Congratulations!
Now, I want to make it clear that in my opinion, becoming vegan is a lifestyle choice and not necessary to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight.
