Have you heard of the jukari (aka Cirque du Soleil) workout?

According to a Reebok survey, more than half of all women (that’s 50 per cent of women who honestly answered the survey) feel exercise is a chore, and nearly two-thirds would work out more if it was more fun.
Maybe this new Jukari exercise will put the fun back into working out for a lot of women!
I’d love to say that I saw this one coming, but really I didn’t.
I’m all for the whole Cirque du Soleil shows, but who would have thought to actually break down these breath-taking routines into exercises that everyday people can do???
Jukari Fit to Fly is a group exercise experience based on a new piece of equipment called the FlySet (think of a free-hanging trapeze).
The FlySet can be used for swinging, jumping, hanging, kicking, pulling up and strengthening. The equipment consists of a durable, three-stranded rope fixed to the ceiling with a 360-degree swivel point and an attachable FlyBar.
The Fit to Fly classes use this Cirque du Soleil type of contraption to give you one full hour of total body workout of cardio, strength, balance and core training.
The class sizes are small and only 12 people at a time can be cured of their workout-rut.
According to Reebok:
“You’ll flex and flutter, sweat and stretch, and swing from a FlySet. It’s all about moving your body in a fun new way.”
Just in case you were wondering how they came up with the name Jukari … it’s from a world dialect word meaning “to play”.
Jukari Fit to Fly is just the first in a series of special projects to result from Reebok’s new partnership with Cirque du Soleil … so there might be many more dare-devil-like workouts to come.

Alas, I’ve not been able to try my hand at Jukari because it’s not yet available in Canada, but many other readers will be able to lace their shoes and take a Jukari class.
Here are the places where you get a Jukari workout:
* Pure Fitness in Krakow, Poland
* Equinox in New York City
Hong Kong, Mexico City, Madrid, London, Munich, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Montreal and Los Angeles will also offer these classes soon.
No workout would be complete without the workout gear so expect to see a collection of workout clothing for women tailored to the Jukari Fit to Fly experience.
I’ve said it time and time again … working out does NOT mean that you have to take up a membership in a gym, there are sooooooooooooooooo many ways of staying fit … you just need to find the one that works for you.
