Is Nigella Lawson responsible for obesity in the U.K.?

I’ve always quite like watching Nigella Lawson cook because she’s so anti-Martha Stewart and I really love that about her. I mean who has time, energy or inclination to have everything perfectly prepared the way Martha Stewart does?
I was going through my favourite online U.K. newspaper when I read the screaming headline:
“Doctors attack chefs Nigella Lawson and Rick Stein for fatty recipes that ‘add to obesity crisis’”
It’s not only Nigella who is preparing foods that are so high in fat that they might meet your fat needs for an entire week in just one meal, but I’ve also watched in amazement how Emeril Lagasse keeps going on and on about pork fat and how he loves to deep fry a lot of his recipes in (I guess) pork fat!
There are a lot of celebrity chef shows on the many food channels, but when you know anything about cooking, you quickly realize that a lot of these recipes are nothing more than a fancy heart attack on a plate.
Now, I’m not saying that we all need to be eating salads everyday … but when you make high-fat recipes the main focus of your show … it raises eyebrows and that is exactly what happened with Nigella Lawson.
It seems that I’m not the only one questioning some of these recipes because a panel of doctors and nutritionists are now raising the red flag on shows and recipe books by celebrity chefs such as Lawson.
I’m all for eggs and I do like to indulge once in a while in pancetta (Italian-style bacon), but Nigella Lawson’s Boxing Day egg and pie sounds obscene and it apparently contains very high levels of fat … and we all know what happens when you consume a high fat diet … YOU GET FAT! One single serving of Nigella’s Boxing Day egg and pie contains the equivalent of 84 per cent of a woman’s daily recommended fat limit per day!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m not knocking Nigella Lawson’s cooking abilities because I’m a former untrained personal chef and I don’t have a multi-million dollar empire, but I can assure you that I know enough about food and proper food preparation to say that Nigella’s recipes might be best kept for major holidays and most of them might not be good for everyday consumption.
If you want to read the entire Daily Mail article that also features a few other offenders like Rick Stein, Jean-Christophe Novelli and John Burton-Race: Doctors attack chefs Nigella Lawson and Rick Stein for fatty recipes that ‘add to obesity crisis’.

How foolish. Individuals are responsible for what they put in their mouths and, therefore, their bodies. Cooks and chefs like Lawson and Stein share recipes. Any longtime viewer of either knows that neither advocates a diet high in fat and sweets. Her Boxing Day pie is just that: a once a year treat, not an everyday dinner item! People need to take some bloody responsibility and stop blaming others.

Why should she be to blame? Is she forcing her opinion on folks? You have to make up your own mind on what to eat. I have nothing more to add. This is silly.
