Look at those amazing winter veggies!

I had the pleasure of touring the St Lawrence Market with Sam Graci a few days ago.

Sam Graci (aka creator of Greens+ – the best green supplement in my opinion and I just wouldn’t see myself starting my day with my glass of Greens+!)  is one of my favourite people in the world because every time he sees me he greets me like a family member he’s not seem for a long time.

This latest market tour was really another huge learning opportunity because Sam is a walking encyclopedia of nutrition and good health (did you know his grandmother opened her first health food shop in 1929? No wonder Sam is such a passionate advocate of proper nutrient and good health) .

During this tour we really focused on fruits and vegetables we should focus on during the colder months of the year! I’ve documented some of his recommendations via the photos below.

The biggest revelation for me is the whole idea of how many different sprout varieties are available and how easy it is to grow them. Wheatgrass juice was another welcomed surprise.

I’ve not drank wheatgrass juice in a while and I was thrilled to discover that I could actually buy some not too far from my home.

During the tour I was able to discover one of the best little shops: Uncle George’s Place (located in the basement of the St Lawrence Market).

For the past 17 years, this shop has been servicing the growing demand for certified organic wheatgrass and sprouts! Did you know they sell more than 40 different varieties of sprouts? Neither did I! I was blown away by their selection.

If you live in Toronto and love humus as much as I do, you’ll die and go to heaven when I tell you that Uncle George’s Place has something like 8-10 different varieties. I will surely go back and review all of those great healthy foods, but I caved in and bought the roasted beet humus!

I really want to highlight the importance of sprouts because they might be the most affordable super-foods on the planet and they grow in any climate!

In fact if you can try their “power salad”, you’ll discover how delicious and affordable super-foods can be!
