My discussion about diet with Marla from FlyLady.net!
Marla is a master at helping women find peace in their lives by helping them be a lot more organized. She’s made it her life’s purpose to advise women every single day and help them achieve that goal.
I so love the first question she has on her site: “Are you living in chaos?” The truth is that so many women are living in state of total complete chaos in their homes and this translates to how well they take care of themselves and how well they nourish their bodies (when there’s a lot going on in your life, you rarely take the time to think about what you are eating).
I love watching Peter Walsh, the Australian organizational expert (and New York Times best-selling author, TV personality and radio host) who has been as of late a regular on Queen Oprah’s show. How many people has he helped who were drowning in “stuff” they’d been accumulating to fill the void, pain, insecurities, sarrow and sadness in their lives?
I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I have been moved many times by the outcome of many of those makeovers. If it’s not in your budget to able to hire the services to Peter Walsh, you’ll surely want Marla from FlyLady.net to guide you in living a de-cluttered life.
One of the things I love so much about Peter Walsh is how he says that a lot of people he has helped have lost an insane amount of weight once their houses, basements, closets and garages were cleaned out. I’m not surprised one bit because when you clean your surroundings there is a sense of lightness that pushes you to translate into all aspects of your life.
I also think that during the purging process, people may feel more courageous about opening their fridge and cupboards to see what’s hidden there and what’s helping to trap all that fat in their bodies.
That was really the starting point of my discussion with Marla and that’s exactly what she tackles in her bestselling book: Body Clutter: Love Your Body, Love Yourself.
What I loved the most about my discussion with Marla was her no-nonsense approach to health:
* She makes water a priority
* She limits sugar and sugary drinks
* She eats apples every day
* She keeps her portions in check
* She makes a point of staying active
* She’s conscious of what she puts into her body
The whole experience of writing her book with co-author Leanne Ely has prompted both women to lose a lot of weight while helping a great number of women do the same.
During my discussion with Marla, we talked about how North Americans seemed to find it hard to make good food choices. I was quite adamant about sharing with her that my whole purpose behind writing great quality content on Eat Smart Age Smart every single day was to help North Americans make the transition from making poor food choices to making good food choices as enjoyable as possible.
Talking to Marla from FlyLady.net was like a meeting of the minds and we were finishing each others’ sentences because both of us have very similar viewpoints on nutrition, fitness and the importance of de-cluttering the noise in your kitchen that’s preventing you from losing weight.
