Review: T-cakes are insanely incredible desserts

These types of reviews make my job such a joy!

I found the site of Tennessee T-Cakes by pure chance and now that I’ve tasted them I’m addicted to these incredibly delicious little cakes!

I kid you not, after tasting them, the only thing I wanted to do was buy a plane ticket to Tennessee to visit the bakery where all the magic beginnings.

I had not followed Oprah (and Gayle’s) American road trip so I didn’t know these had been featured on her show … it’s only when I got my T-Cakes that I discovered this tidbit of information because it’s printed on the little card that comes with each little T-Cakes pack.

Tennessee T-Cakes are embedded in American tradition and history! The T-Cakes (tea cakes) are I suspect a tradition left behind by the British who today still make time for high tea and the biscuits or cakes to accompany their favourite tea.

There was a time in history when Southern Belles sent love notes and food to their suitors out at war. The T-Cakes are little cakes that were prepared by a Southern Belle using and old family recipe and given the Civil War and shortage of basic needs, the Belle decided to send small cakes to her Beau instead of sending a whole cake. The Belle’s suitor was so seduced by her baking abilities that when the war ended he returned home to marry his Belle.

Is this not a beautiful story? The Tennessee T-Cakes are made from that same recipe which is over 100 years old!

Eating Smart means that you make room for your favourite desserts once a week, because cutting out dessert all together will only lead your brain to rebel and that usually means food binging (and that defeats the purpose).

I think that Frances Barkley’s (she’s the founder) Tennessee T-Cakes are the perfect size snack that are idea for tea or coffee time (or just on their own)!

Here’s the best part, along with being outrageously yummy, these T-Cakes are made with the finest ingredients and Frances Barkley REFUSES to use any chemical additives, dyes or preservatives … and that’s obvious when you taste them.

The best way for me to describe the Tennessee T-Cakes is a perfect combination of a moist cake and a brownie. It’s quite hard to explain in words, but one word that describes these Tennessee T-Cakes perfectly is “D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S”!

>>>> Tennessee T-Cakes are baked in four flavours: original (those were the ones I tasted), chocolate truffle, Key lime and luscious lemon!

You don’t have to live in the U.S. to enjoy these Tennessee T-Cakes because you can also order them from their Web site.

T-Cakes might not be the dessert of choice for your next BBQ gathering, but if you are having a nice get-together with girlfriends or if you are looking for a new dessert for your Sunday brunches at home … I’d highly recommend them … you will NOT regret it.

Now, if you do want to share your newfound love for T-Cakes with a large number of friends or family members, then you’ll want to contact the company about their catering services!

* The box of 12 Tennessee T-Cakes (they come wrapped in pairs) retails for: $10.95 for the original, $11.95 USD for the lemon and lime and $12.95 for the chocolate truffles.

* The tin of 12 Tennessee T-Cakes are $16.95 for the original, $19.95 for the lemon and lime and $21.95 for the tin of chocolate truffles.

You’ll find all the details here: Tennessee T-Cakes
