Review: TRX Suspension training is VERY intensive!
September 21, 2009
I first discovered TRX Suspension training in spring of this year while surfing on YouTube, and thought to myself that it looked really cool. At first glance, it looked like a different way of working out and a different way of engaging your muscles by using large training straps.
When I saw the TRX Suspension training video, my gym was undergoing renovations and I was working out at another place. Not long after seeing the video, I noticed a couple of the trainers at the gym where I was working out were using the same yellow suspension straps with their clients. Interestingly enough, the two trainers who were using the straps were instructors whose classes I had attended and gotten an incredibly challenging workout.
Paula is a Pilates instruction and personal trainer who frankly has gotten my body to move in ways that were foreign to me. I’ve taken a few of her Pilates classes and have always left in pain because I was working muscles I had not been using. I was working out my body in a way that was quite different from spinning, skipping rope and weight training.
Vladimir (who is a über-fit personal trainer and instructor) changed my whole perception of boxing. Via six weekly classes where I donned real boxing gloves, I was able to get the rock solid abs that had always eluded me … even after well over a decade of dedicated hard core physical training.
Both Paula and Vladimir are trainers at the Extreme Delisle gym.

When I finally got my own TRX Suspension training system, it made sense to me to learn from two fierce trainers instead of going it alone. There are a number of places across North America that offer TRX Suspension training but none are in my city, so I decided to learn from masters who had trained countless clients of their own using the same system.

Paula was the one who wound up working with me. I’ll be honest, I knew going in that both Paula and Vlad would most likely kill me, but I knew that Paula would also include some of those killer Pilates exercises that would leave me crying (they almost did).
The day before my first TRX Suspension training session, I thought I was being reasonable by not doing an intensive workout. I skipped boxing classes, skipped karate classes (oh, yes – I’ve taken up karate training – I’ll tell you all about it later) … I even skipped weight training (that said, I did go to the gym and skipped rope for 30 minutes because I really felt the need to do some kind of exercise). I thought I was being a good girl and that I could handle my first TRX Suspension training with ease.
>>>>>Since this is the longest and most detailed post I’ve ever written since I’ve been professionally publishing online (since June 2007), I’ve decided to put this information in a PDF to make it easy for you to read and keep on hand. In fact, the entire review is equivalent to 29 pages! You’ll see how much this workout has changed everything about my future workouts!

I want to thank Extreme Gym (Delisle location) and I want to thank Paula for a killer workout. The management at Extreme Delisle were kind enough to allow me to use their incredible facility to get my training.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this is one of the best gyms I’ve been to and they have some of the most dedicated personal trainers I’ve yet to come across!

Mark L,
Thanks so much for the compliment.
Yes, the TRX Suspension Training was one of the most intensive trainings I’ve done up to now and I’m looking forward to mastering this military-style workout to gain a leaner and fitter body.
