Seven Fires cookbook: Grilling the Argentine Way
One of my favourite current food shows is Entrada: Journeys in Latin American Cuisine!
The show was on air from 2001 to 2008, but I just discovered it recently and I’ve been indulging in the re-runs!
The latest episodes have been devoted to Argentina and the cowboy cuisine and the cowboy way of life.
I cannot tell you how much I love this show. The amazing thing about Argentina is how it’s cuisine is a beautiful blend of cowboy cuisine, Latin American cuisine and Italian cuisine. There have been massive waves of Italian immigration in Argentina of Italians willing to travel to the other end of the world to get away from wars.
If you’ve been reading my site for a while, then you know how much I love Italian cuisine. I think this is part of the reason why cuisine from Argentina has become such a fascination lately.
If you want to know a culture there’s no better way than learning about their culinary traditions and their recipes!
That is exactly what Seven Fires: Grilling the Argentine Way does!
When big media outlets describe a cookbook in the following terms, you know something good is cooking:
“Most of what’s in this captivating book about cooking over wood is as straightforward as it is appealing.” -The New York Times
“Glorious…You could amuse yourself all summer long exploring Mallmann’s methods. His cooking is utterly unpretentious.” -Fine Cooking
Chef Francis Mallmann was born in Patagonia (the southern part of Argentina) and he trained in France’s top restaurants. At some point, Chef Mallmann abandoned the fussy fine dining scene for the more elemental experience of cooking with fire.
He has a long list of celebs who really love his approach to food: Francis Ford Coppola, Madonna, and Ralph Lauren have all travelled to Argentina and Uruguay to experience Chef Mallmann’s delicious wood-fired feats.
The seven fires of the title refer to a series of grilling techniques that have been singularly adapted for the home cook.
Seven Fires: Grilling the Argentine Way will help you cook signature Mallmann dishes indoors or out in any season, like:
* Whole Boneless Ribeye with Chimichuri
* Salt-Crusted Striped Bass
* Whole Roasted Andean Pumpkin with Mint and Goat Cheese Salad
* Carbonada in a Pumpkin (which is a traditional recipe from Argentina)
* Sweet Potatoes “tata” with Honey & Thyme
*Burnt Tomato Halves
* Pan Bread with Grilled Red onions & Rosemay
* And desserts like as Dulce de Leche Pancakes
* And Fry Bread
You don’t have to be a “grilling person” to appreciate this incredible cookbook. In fact, once you try a few recipes, you’ll have a whole new appreciation for the art of grilling food!
If you are hardcore about your grilling and barbecue recipes, this cookbook will take your passion and artistry to a level that’s unparallel! You’ll be impressed by these recipes and your guests might never want to leave your home.
Oh, I almost forgot, if you pastime is food-porn, you’ll be content with Seven Fires cookbook: Grilling the Argentine Way. The photos are as delicious as the recipes!
Seven Fires: Grilling the Argentine Way is not for the fussy chef. The recipes are very simple, but all quite tasty and filled with the culinary history of Argentina!
