A Sex Pistol sells Country Life butter
I wanted to highlight this entertaining video that shows there is life after a high-flying singing career.
We’ve all seen B-list celebrities try to revive their careers by participating in reality shows, and for some of them, it turned out to be quite a successful strategy. Many have ended up on some of the biggest reality shows and found a new group of fans. Some have even gotten commercial deals and have become poster children for smart diet products.
Here’s a list of the most prominent food and diet commercials that make good use of celebrities:
* Cindy Crawford promoting Pepsi
* The Jacksons promoting Pepsi
* Beyonce promoting Pepsi
* Julianne Hough (dancer on Dancing with the Stars) promoting Wrigley’s Gum
* Valerie Bertinelli, Felicia Rashad and Kirstie Alley promoting Jenny Craig
*Marie Osmond, Dan Marino, Belinda Carlisle, Tony Orlando and tennis star Billie Jean King promoting NutriSystem
* Paris Hilton promoting Carl’s Jr burgers
* Justin Timberlake promoting McDonald’s
* Coca-Cola also has a long list of celebrity-endorsed commercials
When it comes to using celebrities to endorse food and diet products, no one does it better than the Americans.
The British, meanwhile, have a different take on a lot of things so it should be no surprise that Country Life butter decided to make John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten from the Sex Pistols) their new “face” in their recent commercials.
It might seem laughable to use a rock star to promote butter (Europeans do take their butter very seriously), but Country Life is laughing all the way to the bank — the punk legend is credited with increasing their sales by a whopping 85 per cent in one quarter!
I found this hilarious video on YouTube and thought I’d share it!
