Dr. Nicolas Perricone (often seen on Oprah as the anti-aging expert) is a big advocate of the importance of Omega-3 for your skin, hair and nails. Since your hair, skin and nails are the fastest reproducing cells in your body, they need essential fatty acids like Omega-3.
A lack of Omega-3 in your diet will result in premature aging of your skin and hair (and we wouldn’t want that to happen). It’s also been reported that proper intake of Omega-3 is very effective at protecting the skin against sun damage.

I’ve already explained how easy it was to miss the boat on your daily consumption of Omega-3, but knowing that the youth and appearance of your skin while you age is directly linked to your intake of this fatty acid, it makes it that much more important to add it to your diet.

There are other anti-aging benefits to Omega-3 oils because they play a critical role in many functions in the body. I found an in-depth article about other anti-aging benefits: Omega-3 – Extending our Anti-Aging timeline.

One thing to keep in mind: just like every other supplement available on the market, there are many different grades of Omega-3 supplements. Lower grades can cause socially disgraceful side effects like unpleasant tasting burps and even a fishy smell in your skin.
